Qualification Objectives
  • Knowing challenges of the transmission and processing of multimedia data in distributed computer systems
  • Learning architectures and mechanisms of digital multimedia systems
  • Knowing current solutions and approaches for multimedia distribution components
  • Knowing multimedia transport protocols of the Internet
  • Applying the knowledge in some simple implementations
Examination
Oral Examinations on August 3rd. Individual time slots announced in the lecture.

Content
This lecture discusses the special requirements of distributed multimedia applications in terms of system and network support. One focus is the realization of real-time streaming via adaptation and Quality-of-Service.
